Xiaomi’s Redmi 9C may soon launch in India as POCO C3

It doesn't look like POCO will be changing its rebranding strategy anytime soon.

What you need to know

  • POCO C3 has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website with the same model number as the Redmi 9C.
  • The phone is expected to soon be launched in India.
  • POCO has already launched rebranded versions of three Redmi phones this year.

POCO introduced a new budget phone called the M2 Pro in the Indian market earlier this month, based on the popular Redmi Note 9 Pro. According to a report from XDA Developers, the Xiaomi sub-brand could soon launch yet another rebranded Redmi phone in India.

An upcoming POCO smartphone called the "POCO C3" has passed through Bluetooth SIG with the same M2006C3MI model number as the Redmi 9C. The Redmi 9C was announced last month, alongside the Redmi 9A. This is actually not the first time the Redmi 9C has been spotted under the POCO branding. Aside from the Bluetooth SIG website, the phone has made an appearance on the websites of TÜV Rheinland and India's BIS certification body.

Since all the three devices that POCO has launched so far this year are rebranded versions of Redmi phones, it isn't surprising that the Xiaomi sub-brand is now planning to enter the entry-level segment in India with a rebranded version of the Redmi 9C. What remains to be seen, however, is whether POCO will be adding some new features to the phone to differentiate it from the Redmi 9C. The POCO M2 Pro is largely identical to the Redmi Note 9 Pro but offers faster 33W charging speeds, ad-free MIUI software, and comes with a two-tone finish on the back.
